What to Do If Your Child Chips a Tooth
(Before Seeing a Dentist)

Chipped teeth in kids are commonwhether from falls, play, or biting hard foods . It may look scary, but most cases are easy to handle.
What to do first:
Gently rinse the mouth with water and control any bleeding with a soft cloth. Avoid mouthwash ,it can irritate.
Quick check: Look for:
l Missing piece or sharp edge
l Bleeding gums
l Pain while biting
If you find the broken piece, rinse it and keep it in milk or saliva.
Ease the discomfort
Use a child-safe pain reliever if needed and apply a cold compress. Cover sharp edges temporarily if they’re causing irritation.
Food care
Stick to soft foods and avoid very hot, cold or crunchy items. Ask your child to chew on the other side.
Don’t skip the dentist
Visit a pediatric dentist within 1–2 days, even small chips need checking.
Emergency signs:
l Knocked-out tooth
l Continuous bleeding
l Severe pain or swelling.
l Trouble opening the mouth
