National Periodontist Day 2026
On 23rd February 2026, National Periodontist Day was celebrated at Saraswati Dental College Lucknow with an emphasis on community education and preventive periodontal care. An Oral Health Awareness Program was conducted to educate patients about maintaining optimal gum health, and their Body Mass Index (BMI) was recorded to highlight the important relationship between systemic health and periodontal status. As part of the outreach initiative, patients were provided with toothpaste samples from Omnident, generously supported by ISPI, to promote effective daily oral hygiene practices. The academic segment of the celebration featured an enthusiastic Poster Presentation Competition for third-year and final-year students, centered on the theme:“ Periodontitis: Silent & Destructive but Preventable.” The presentations highlighted the insidious nature of periodontal disease, the importance of early diagnosis, and the role of preventive care in preserving oral and overall health. Adding a lively dimension to the event, a fun-filled “Filmy Trivia Challenge” was organized for the faculty, fostering engagement and camaraderie. The celebration concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony, followed by the distribution of certificates to prize winners and all participants. A total of 10 participants enthusiastically took part in the e-poster competition, showcasing their academic creativity and understanding of periodontal health. The Department gratefully acknowledges the support extended in making this program meaningful and successful.
