Some parents notice that their child's lower front teeth are positioned in front of the upper teeth and assume that the child will “grow out of it.”
This is called an anterior crossbite.
It can have different causes, including tooth position or the relationship between the upper and lower jaws.
Why should parents pay attention?
An untreated crossbite may sometimes be associated with:
- Abnormal tooth wear
- Gum problems
- Functional shifts of the lower jaw
- Uneven development of the bite
Early evaluation is particularly important while the child is growing.
