Workshop & Hands-On Training in Marginal Neck Dissection
The Department of Oral Pathology successfully organized a specialized academic program titled “NeckPath: Precision at the Margin”, focusing on the pathological evaluation of marginal neck dissection specimens. The workshop emphasized the critical role of accurate margin assessment and standardized grossing in head and neck oncology.
The program featured two eminent guest speakers - Dr. Rashmi Chaturvedi ,MD Oncopathology & Head Lucknow Cancer Institute and Lt.Col.(Dr.) Richa Ranjan, MD Oncopathology,LCI delivered expert lectures on surgical anatomy, oncologic margins, lymph node evaluation, and reporting protocols. The presence of five Heads of Departments from external institutions enriched the academic discourse and promoted inter-institutional collaboration.
A key highlight was the hands-on training session, where participants gained practical exposure to specimen orientation, inking, nodal level identification, systematic grossing, and evidence-based reporting aligned with CAP/WHO guidelines.
Faculty members, postgraduate and undergraduate students actively participated, making the workshop an engaging and skill-oriented learning experience. The event reinforced the pivotal role of oral pathologists in multidisciplinary cancer care and emphasized the importance of precision in oncologic pathology practice.
