Cast partial dentures are gradually being displaced by the fixed partial dentures and implant-supported dentures in the present scenario. But, there are situations in which these two options are contraindicated or can not be helpful. The students don’t have an interest in learning this beautiful science of Cast Partial Dentures because it appears to them a little difficult, further, it is termed as removable, hence patients don’t want to repeatedly put it on and off, further it is not fixed which is also a point of distraction for the patient. These prostheses not only save the remaining natural teeth but also preserve the alveolar bone and the proprioceptive response of the periodontal area. These have a metallic framework hence the stimulation of tissues due to hot and cold foodstuff is also preserved, further saving the teeth also boosts the morale of the patient that they still have so many natural teeth in their mouth, which is a big psychological booster in the aging individuals. These prostheses also take support from the natural teeth along with the soft tissue hence the alveolar bone does not undergo quick resorption. These are markedly better in terms of retention as compared to conventional plastic partial dentures.
