The 21st century has seen an exponential increase in the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in research, education, and healthcare. The most recent AI, chat generative pre-trained transformer (ChatGPT), has revolutionised the field of Oral Pathology by providing assistance to Oral & Maxillofacial Pathologists with diagnostic accuracy, saving time and felicitating learning.
However, the integration ChatGPT in diagnostic pathology causes various challenges and potential pitfalls that need to be addressed. Future perspectives could focus on improving ChatGPT accuracy, personalization and integration with other technologies, ethical and legal issues including bias. Despite challenges and potential pitfalls, the use of ChatGPT in Oral Pathology could eventually fasten the turnover time of diagnosis leading to a better prognosis.
