Examination of oral cavity may reveal many health conditions at early stages. Likewise, high glucose level can be detected in saliva. Saliva can also be used to detect harmful viruses (COVID-19) or liver functionality (lipid profile). Early signs of diabetes are periodontitis, dental carries, recurrent ulcers. Lichen planus can also be caused by stress and metallic restorations(allergic). Any signs of oral infection may, be associated(candidiasis) with immuno compromised patients. Early diagnosis can lead to early initiation of treatment for systemic condition.
