On the occasion of World Head and Neck cancer day i.e. 27th July 2019, The Dept. of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in collaboration with Dept. of Oral Medicine and Radiology and Dept. of Oral Pathology and Microbiology conducted a screening of the 50 patients coming to OPD.
The patients in whom the lesions were found to be suspicious on the basis of clinical signs and symptoms and screening tests, were advised to undergo cytology/biopsy to rule out malignancy. Blood investigations were also suggested for the patients in this regard. A session was held to counsel the patients regarding stoppage of all adverse habits (smoking, smoked/smokeless tobacco) which can lead to cancer, myths related tooth treatment modalities, its early detection and its timely treatment.
Educative and informative videos were played. Audio-visual presentations were also shown by the post-graduates. One to one interaction with the suspected cases was carried out by postgraduate students & faculty members of these departments.
