The World Health Organization (WHO) has designated 31st May of each year as World No Tobacco Day. This year’s theme is “Tobacco and lung health”. It emphasized the fundamental role of lungs in people’s health and well being and increased awareness on the negative impact that tobacco has on lung health of the individual, from chronic respiratory disease to cancer. On this occasion the Department of Oral Medicine & Radiology organized a lecture on “Tobacco Intervention” for the interns on 13th May 2019, to sensitize our budding doctors towards importance of tobacco control. The aim was to raise awareness on the deadly effects of tobacco use and second hand smoke exposure thereby discouraging the use of tobacco in any form.
