International Day of Radiology
The International Day of Radiology is an annual eventcelebrated on 8th November every year, with the aim of building awareness and improving understanding of the vital role radiologist play in the healthcare continuum. This year, Sports Imaging (Musculoskeletal Radiology) has been chosen as the theme for the day.
Musculoskeletal Radiology is a fast growing sub-specialty of Diagnostic Radiology that plays an increasingly important part in the assessment and management of patients with the widevariety of injuries. Within this sub -specialty a new discipline has emerged – Sports Imaging. It highlights the essential role that radiologist play in the detection, diagnosis, prognosis and treatment of sports related injuries increasing the quality of care and treatment of patients.
On, this occasion, the department of Oral Medicine & Radiology organized a talk for Interns (Batch 2013-2014). The aim of the event was to apprise the young doctors about futuristic Radiology. The topic of the talk was Sports Imaging and it’s Future in Radiology. The time duration for the same was 2 minutes and it was evaluated on the basis of knowledge and awareness. The event was a huge success and appreciated by all.
We the Head and Neck Radiologists celebrated the day with great zeal and enthusiasm with a hope to alert the world to the stunning medical, scientific and even artistic possibilities of medical imaging and the essential role of radiologist as part of the healthcare team in countless medical scenarios.
