The Department of Basic Sciences at Saraswati Dental College began in the year 1998 with the inception of the institute. The Department of Basic Sciences was privileged to be guided by highly experienced educated faculty and guided Ph.D. and M.D. in different field of Basic sciences. A multitude of undergraduates have passed from the Saraswati Dental College and placed nationally as well as internationally.

The main aim of department of microbiology is to train students of medicine in the field medical microbiology. The training is imparted to the candidates in the subspecialties vise bacteriology, virology, mycology, immunology, serology and parasitology, so that they can participate in good patient care and prevention of infectious diseases in the community.
Prof. Asha Mathur had been awarded “The Glaxo Oration Award” by The National Academy of Medical Sciences (India) for the year 2004. Prof. Asha Mathur was the principal investigator in the research project sponsored by Department of Biotechnologies, New Delhi.
