Established in 1997, the Department of Prosthodontics and Crown and Bridge has continued to be a premier center of comprehensive teaching and training in the core curriculum and additionally five different confluent adjunct specialties making the teaching program broader based and robust.The department has established a working relationship with extraneous agencies to be able to widen the scope of academic teaching, patient care and research.
It is the first department in the country to be awarded for excellence in clinical research by the AMERICAN ACADEMY OF DENTAL SLEEP MEDICINE.
- It is also the first department in the country to host an INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON DENTAL SLEEP MEDICINE featuring 18 international and 5 Indian participants.
The Department of Prosthodontics at Saraswati Dental College has the unique distinction of having inducted five confluent adjunct specialties to the core curriculum thus making it comprehensive, broad based, and excellent.

Obstructive sleep apnea in edentulous patients The department has the unique distinction of establishing a protocol of definitive oral appliance therapy for edentulous patients by conversion of the conventional complete dentures into an oral appliance for nocturnal wear.
Including cleft lip and palate prosthetics (the department has continued to provide free maxillofacial prosthetic rehabilitation to the post-surgery cancer patients at Lucknow Cancer Institute since 2011.
The Department has catered to infants with cleft lip and cleft palate by providing initial feeding appliance and pre surgical naso-alveolar molding at Shushrut institute of plastic surgery since 2010.
The department of prosthodontics caters to geriatric patients both at the department clinics and at an outreach old age hospice on the outskirts of Lucknow.
Oral implants are provided to eligible patients and subsequent prosthetic rehabilitation of such patients and those referred from the department of oral and maxillofacial surgery is regularly undertaken.
