Girls and Boy’s Hostels at Saraswati Dental College is a Hall of Residence established by the institution which gives the feeling of “ Your Home Away from Home.” It signifies new possibilities and opportunity for them to live, learn and grow with the promise of a safe, secure environment and overall development of the residents.
The Girls and Boy’shostel are situated in the same campus which provides boarding and lodging to the undergraduates (BDS) and post graduate students (MDS). It provides reasonably priced, comfortable and spacious rooms which are occupied by two students of the same year. The institution provides the students with a bed, mattress, a table and chair along with wall fitted Almira, a fan, a tube light and a proper electrical sockets and common refrigerators and coolers. The students are allowed to use Air conditioners and coolers in their rooms in the month of summers against nominal payments. However, other electrical appliances such as electric kettles, inductions, heaters etc. are strictly prohibited to avoid any mishap.
The hostel has facilities of 24 hours electricity and water supply, well equipped washrooms with hot water supply (geysers), laundry and dry cleaning facilities, Wi-Fi connectivity, evening library facilities and also has ATM facilities and 24 hours hospital in the campus. The institution has a separate mess for both boys and girls in their respective hostels. The students are encouraged to have healthy and nutritional foods and snacks which are served at specific time which is according to the pre-decided menu and is subjected to changes with the changing seasons. The campus also has a cafeteria near the hostel.
Full time security with armed guards are placed at the three gates of the hostel. Mandatory roll calls are done before dinner time to ensure that all the residents have reached the hostel safely. For security reasons, no residents are allowed to leave the hostel without the permission of the Provost of the hostel. In case of outing or night stay at their guardian’s place they have to sign gate pass and out pass respectively from the warden as well as the Provost. Use of tobacco/alcohol/narcotics drugs is strictly prohibited in the college premise. Also possession and use of any lethal weapons and instruments are strictly prohibited. Any student found indulging in such activities shall be severely dealt with and shall be liable for expulsion as well as legal action, as the case may be.
SDC aims to foster and promote healthy, friendly, welcoming and caring atmosphere among the residents of the hostel and inspire them to live as one big SDC family. Apart from academics, it also wants the students to excel in sports and other extracurricular activities. The institution has well equipped indoors (table tennis, chess, etc) and outdoors sports facilities with a multipurpose ground for cricket, basketball, badminton and track events. Gymnasium and Yoga centres are also available in the campus.
The institution also believes in celebrating all the festivals of all the religions with great pomp and show. Starting from Lohri, Makar Sankranti, Holi, Shravan, Eid, Dusshera, Durga Puja, Diwali and Christmas with proper traditions and excitements. All the students take active part in the celebrations and enjoy to the fullest.
Regular one to one interaction between the residents and the provosts are done on weekly basis. All the residents are given the right to express their selves, their needs to the warden and the provost which help them in every possible ways. Thus the hostel safeguards the collective interest of all the residents so that a comfortable environment conducive to both physical and mental well-being can be maintained.
